Based on the books by Caroline Kepnes and developed by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, the mega-hit thriller You, first aired on Lifetime in 2018.
It was one of those shows that had a loyal following but lackluster ratings. Although Lifetime renewed the show, it was moved to Netflix, which bought the rights to it.
And that’s where most of us first met Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley). On the surface, Joe is a sweet guy. He works in a bookstore, is quiet, cute, and seems very normal.
Except by now, we all know he’s anything but. who is a serial killer who falls in love to the point of obsession?
So how on earth has he not been caught by now?? And when can we expect to see YOU?

You Season 5 – When is it coming out on Netflix?
As always, we have both good and bad news for you Season 5 front. The good news is that Netflix has officially renewed the show and confirmed that we will get You Season 5.
The bad news is that it will be THE LAST SEASON. So Joe Goldberg’s story is finally coming to an end.
The Netflix press release reads… “Will Joe Goldberg finally get his judgment day? Fans of the beloved thriller will soon know more about Joe’s fate when you return for a fifth and final season.”

However, the good news is that creator Sera Gamble already has some ideas for where Joe is going next. We left him in New York with his rich new girlfriend, Kate, and Gamble has said that a renovation will begin there.
In what could be a full circle moment, Goldberg is back on his home turf but his anonymity is gone, so how does he get away with holding people hostage in his glass cage??
There’s no doubt that Gamble has some great ideas that, if we’re lucky, we’ll get to see in You Season 5. As always, filming dates haven’t been confirmed, but we know the moment From It Ends, we usually get episodes six months later.

Joe meets Guinevere Beck, an aspiring writer, and falls head over heels. Convinced that Beck will have no choice but to feel the same way, he pursues her, removing obstacles in the way of true love.
But of course, Beck eventually unravels his twisted life and finds himself trapped in a glass cage. Thinking she’s saved (spoiler, she’s not) she traps him instead. But Joe is a clever boy, and soon he is out, kills Guinevere, dumps her body, and frames the innocent Dr. Nicky for her murder.
Even Joe knows it’s time to get out of Dodge, so here he goes, we take you to season 2.

You season 2 recap
Joe leaves New York behind and moves to Los Angeles to start anew with a new identity. We quickly learn that he already has his eyes set on Love Quinn and, to get close to her steals the identity of a man named Will.
He gets his apartment and gets a job at a grocery store where Quinn works. Soon Goldberg is falling back into his old patterns of violence and obsession, but there are two things he doesn’t know.
Will is not squeaky clean and owes a lot of money. Although the situation is quickly handled, Joe has another problem. Love has its dark secrets and a dysfunctional family.
Faced with all the deception and problems, can they make it work?
You season 3 recap
Joe and Luv are still together and drum roll please… are expecting a baby. Yep, those two psychos are having a baby. But it seems that being married and raising a child isn’t enough to keep Joe from being his true self.
His latest obsession is his next-door neighbor, Natalie Engler. Sensing her happily ever after in danger, Luv decides to put an end to Natalie’s problem.
But this isn’t enough to deter Joe who turns his attention to local librarian Marianne. Furthermore, Marianne’s stepson becomes obsessed with love. No prizes for guessing how poor Theo is in that particular relationship!
Of course, there are the usual cases, murders, and accusations but ultimately, Joe must once again reinvent himself as he goes after Marianne to Paris.
You season 4
For any of you who may be concerned that Netflix will not renew the show, You Season 4 was another ratings hit for Netflix.
Penn Badgley returned as Joe Goldberg (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) alongside Tatie Gabriel who reprised her role as Marian Bellamy.
The filming of AAP Season 4, primarily in London, began in March 2022 and was completed in August. It was then released in two parts, Just to Keep Us All Hanging, with the first five episodes airing on February 9, 2023, and the second set on March 9, 2023.
