Tech Desk. Apple started rolling out the developer and global beta of iOS 16.4 in February. Although the official date of the stable rollout has not been announced. iPhone users have been waiting for this update for a long time.
One of the major reasons behind this is that a cool new feature has been added in the update which can be quite useful for some people. With the help of the new iOS update, users will be able to add Safari web apps to the home screen to send push notifications.
Push notification feature will be available soon
Interestingly, Apple has been working on a feature to add a shortcut to a website with an application-like icon on the home screen since the first iPhone. These website shortcuts are known as web applications because they mimic the same process as an application but cannot be installed on a device.
But these web applications never had the ability to send push notifications to the user. But now it can be rolled out globally very soon. These notifications will look just like notifications from any other iOS application. These will appear on the lock screen, in Notification Center, and even on the Apple Watch.
Users will be able to manage push notifications
Users can manage this from Settings and accept or decline push notifications from a special web app. Users can now receive notifications from their favorite news websites, blog sites, or any other website. Apart from this, iOS 16.4 also includes some cool features like new emoji, a new Beta menu in the Software Update tab, a new Home app architecture, and improvements to the Podcasts app.
Will get new home app architecture
Let us tell you that this feature was started with iOS 16.2, but Apple soon withdrew it due to many bugs and glitches. Now it is finally being rolled out with the iOS 16.4 update. This will be an optional update that will improve the reliability and performance of the app while controlling smart home devices.
