Writer-director-actor Satish Kaushik’s post-mortem and subsequent tests of his blood samples and viscera have had an impact on his prayer meeting here in Mumbai. Two days earlier, those present at his funeral were informed customarily that a condolence meeting would be held in his memory on Saturday. But even after searching here and there throughout the day on Saturday, when the venue of this condolence meeting was not found, then on going to the building where his residence was located, it came to know that instead of the condolence meeting, Satish Kaushik’s thirteenth would be held directly.
Satish Kaushik died on March 9 due to a heart attack in Delhi NCR. His body was brought to Mumbai on Thursday evening and his last rites were performed at the cremation ground at Yari Road Versova at around 8:30 pm. Although some people also mentioned that he was a Brahmin and there was no practice of cremation after sunset, after the post-mortem, he was cremated at night itself, saying that there was a problem in stopping the dead body. Nephew Nishant Kaushik lit the fire on him.
It is a tradition in Mumbai to inform about the prayer meeting in the memory of the deceased at the crematorium itself. Under this, all the visitors were informed that a prayer meeting will be organized in memory of Satish Kaushik on March 11 and its time and place will be informed later. Meanwhile, after the police investigation started on the death of Satish Kaushik on Friday itself, uneasiness is being seen among his acquaintances. His close relatives are not telling the reasons, but it is being said that the prayer meeting has been postponed because of this.
People close to the family of the late Satish Kaushik told on Saturday that now the rituals after his funeral are going on at home till March 20. Programs will continue to be held in his memory till March 20 and on March 21, the thirteenth will be organized.
