The storyline of ‘The Colour Purple is centered on a woman named Celie Harris and analyses her struggles for sustainability as an African- American woman in the early years of the 1900s, living in the South.

Jon Batiste is not just an ordinary singer, but a singer who has earned multiple Grammy-winning awards. And now he will be making his debut in future acting with a musical movie ‘The Color Purple.

This soon-to-come project by Warner Bros is a feature adaption by an author named “Alice Walker’s” infamous novel, additionally the 1985 Oscar-nominated film by Steven Spielberg. Also, the broadway musical was Tony award-winning. ‘The Color Purple got its inspiration from these mentioned sources.

Coming from Variety, Batiste will portray the character of Grady, husband of Taraji P Henson’s Shug Avery. His role is basically of a polite-talking piano man who is ideal for ‘charm and calmness”.

The further cast of the movie includes Sofia as Danielle Brooks, Mister as Colman Domingo, Harpo as Corey Hawkins, and other popular stars.

In 2020, Batiste won the best original score prize for Disney-Pixar’s “Soul,” an honor he shared with fellow composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. In doing so, Batiste became the second Black composer in history, after legendary jazz musician Herbie Hancock, to win an Academy Award in that category.
