What inspired you to begin your fitness journey?

I was a gymnast and competitive cheerleader for most of my life. Then started competing in bodybuilding and went on to earn my pro card in 2017. So fitness has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Fitness is more than just physical and has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life.

What are 3 exercises you can recommend for a quick workout session on a busy day?

  • Does a superset count as 1 workout? Shoulder Press/push-ups
  • Weighted squats / alternating lunges
  • Wide Grip Pulldowns

What drives you to keep going on rough days?

On rough days I take it hour by hour. I don’t rely on motivation to get things done because motivation is just a feeling, it comes and goes. You have to tell yourself it’s your job to get it done and there’s no other option but to just do it.

When preparing for a shoot, what are some differences in your workout regimen?

I don’t change a thing honestly. I don’t want to stress my body out so I stay in a routine.

How can newcomers on their fitness journey better manage their relationship with food?

Before you commit to any sort of fitness goal your relations Jessica SEDARip with food needs to be stable and healthy. You need to understand what food does for your body and educate yourself on the basics of nutrition.

If you could have one absolute favorite meal of all time that wouldn’t affect your body, what would it be and why?

This question is totally unfair. How does someone choose ONE meal? Probably a salmon and beef kabob, falafel, and herbal rice from Shiraz in Louisville, KY. My favorite place on the planet.

Some people could mistake consistency for intensity when trying to get their ideal body. What would you suggest they do to get out of that mindset?

Consistency is key but if you focus solely on that you could fall into this “going with the motions” type mindset. Challenge yourself. If you find yourself getting bored of your routine don’t be afraid to switch it up. Take a boxing class, do a group fitness class, or look up workouts online.
