Jennifer Lopez claims she was on the verge of leaving Hollywood related to body image condemnation:

Jennifer Lopez discusses the special Hollywood ideals of beauty she faced when she first started her career.

Jennifer Lopez speaks candidly about her desire to leave Hollywood due to its previous expectations of women.

JLo discussed how she was bullied because of her voluptuous physique in her Netflix film Halftime since previous ideals of beauty favored skinny and tall women.

“There were numerous occasions when I was simply like, I guess I’m simply going to have to leave,” the Marry Me star admitted.

“I needed to sort out who I was.” And you must trust in that and nothing else,” she continued.

Lopez went on to claim that when she first collaborated in Hollywood, the definition of beauty was “extremely thin, blonde, taller, not a lot of curves,” adding, “Once I begin working, the feminine ideal had been very skinny, blonde, tall, not quite a bunch of curves.”

“I born and raised around curvy people, so it was never anything I was embarrassed of,” JLo continued. “It’s difficult if you believe people assume you’re a joke – a punchline,” she says.

“However, it ended up impacting things in ways I never planned,” Lopez explained.

“I asked to her before, ‘Does this not upset you?” says Ben Affleck, the actor and singer’s fiancé, in the movie.

“Then she said, ‘I’m Latina, I’m a woman, I predicted this,'” he continued.
