Julia Ducournau won the Palme d’Or for “Titane” in 2021.

Ruben Ostlund has been appointed Jury president for Cannes 2023.

Cannes announced Stlund as the jury president on February 27, leaving an important gap of more than two months before the full jury was revealed. In previous years, most of the jury members were either directors or stars in films that screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

Brie Larson, a newcomer to the film industry, will be a member of the jury for Cannes 2023.

Brie Larson, who has starred in several independent films including “Captain Marvel”, is a relative Cannes newcomer despite having starred in many indie movies. She will star in “Lessons in Chemistry” and “Fast X.” This summer.

Dano appeared in two films during the Cannes Film Festival, Paolo Sorrentino’s “Youth” and Bongjoon-ho’s “Okja”.

Ostlund won the top prize at the festival twice: in 2022 for “Triangle of Sadness”, and in 2017 for “The Square”. Before that, he had presented two films to Un Certain Regard. One of them, “Force Majeure”, won the Jury Prize.

Ruben Ostlund’s remarks about his election as President

Stlund said, “I’m happy, proud, and humbled that I’ve been given the honor to preside over the jury for the Festival de Cannes competition this year.” Stlund will be the first Swede in 50 years to head the jury, following Ingrid Bergman. The anticipation for the opening of the Cannes Film Festival is unmatched anywhere else in the world of film.

When does the Cannes Film Festival start?

Cannes will host its 76th anniversary from 16-27 May.
