Auto Desk. BMW India has launched its seventh generation 7 Series and the first i7 electric sedan in the Indian market. Let us tell you that the price of this car starts from Rs 1.70 crore, while the price of the new i7 is Rs 1.95 crore. All these prices are ex-showroom. While the booking of both models is starting today itself, its delivery will start from March 2023.

Based on the i7 CLAR platform

The 7th generation BMW 7 Series and i7 are based on the CLAR platform and receive significant design changes over the outgoing model. The new model is bold with a massive new kidney grille and split LED headlamps, new alloy wheels, and wrap-around LED taillights. At the same time, this model comes with a flat bonnet and sharp shoulder line, which reflects the presence and luxurious look of both models.

Interior Features

The company has completely changed the cabin of this car. The model now also gets Live Cockpit Plus along with the dual screen set-up. It also gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument console and a 14.9-inch infotainment unit. This model also comes with an interactive bar on the dashboard with touch-capacitive controls for ventilation and climate control functions. There is also a 5.5-inch touchscreen control system. Leather upholstery, more durable materials, 18-speaker 4D audio system, executive lounge seats with reclining up to 42.5 degrees, massage and seat ventilation, automatic doors, panoramic glass roof, cloud-based navigation with 18 speakers, and Amazon Fire TV built-in These get a 31.3-inch 8K display and much more.

Powertrain Options

Powertrain options in the new-generation BMW 7 Series get a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder petrol producing 376 bhp and 520 Nm of peak torque on the 740i M Sport. Its motor is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The i7 xDrive60 is powered by two electric motors that generate 536 bhp and 744 Nm of peak torque. With a top speed of 240 mph, it can run from 0-100 kmph in 4.7 seconds.

Charging system

The fast charger is used to charge this car. It can charge from 10-80 percent in just 34 minutes which adds up to a range of around 170 km in 10 minutes. Meanwhile, an 11 kW AC charger will fully charge the i7 in 10.5 hours. The automaker is offering a standard warranty of two years on the i7 and 8 years/160,000 km warranty on the battery pack. In terms of safety, it also gets Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with Attention Assistant, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), and Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold.
