Online shopping platform Amazon is now playing a new inning in the series of providing medical services to its customers. The company has taken over the primary care provider company One Medical. The deal was worth 3.5 billion dollars i.e. about 29,000 crore rupees.

On the other hand, the US Federal Trade Commission has provided official information that it will not challenge the deal.

The company announced the takeover in July last year.

Amazon Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy said in a statement that the deal will help the company improve patient care and deliver personalized care.

Amazon is offering a discount to customers

Amazon has also offered customers a discount ranging from $144 to $199 for One Medical membership after the new deal. This discount will be given to new customers who take One Medical membership in the first year. However, it will not be necessary that customers are subscribers to Amazon‘s Prime loyalty program.

This facility will be available to every new customer. The company has informed that in the membership, customers will be able to take advantage of One Medical’s virtual care service, and insurance navigation.

Amazon will not lay off employees in One Medical

Along with this, Amazon has clarified that it will not lay off employees in One Medical after the completion of the deal. Amir Dan Rubin will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer of the company and will report to Neil Lindsay, Senior Vice President of Amazon Health Services.
